On Reserve Infrastructure Projects

MCA Environmental Management (MCA) works closely with First Nations communities in Western Canada who are planning to expand their infrastructure.

There are specific requirements and criteria that must be followed as most water and sewer projects on reserve lands require an environmental assessment.

MCA provides the following services to First Nation communities:

  • MCA works with engineering companies to complete comprehensive environmental assessments in accordance with Indian Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) requirements.
  • MCA works collaboratively with Architects, Engineers and Designers to ensure all aspects of the project are assessed.
  • MCA provides cost effective reports by integrating relevant technical information directly from the municipal engineering company into the Community's environmental assessment report.

MCA has extensive knowledge in the various environmental legislative requirements on federal lands and works to ensure all regulatory requirements are met and exceeded to reduce the Community's environmental liability.

Recent infrastructure projects completed by MCA include:

  • Eden Valley Water Line
  • Stoney Nakoda Nation New Water Treatment Plant and Waste Water Treatment Facility for the Entertainment Resort
  • Big Horn Water Line

Whether your Community is planning construction of a new school or expansion of an existing one you may need an environmental assessment.

MCA has recently completed Environmental Impact Assessments for the following schools:

  • Siksika Nation Chief Old Sun School Expansion
  • Sunchild School Addition
  • Ta'Otha Community School Big Horn Reserve (new school)
  • Morley School Gym addition – Stoney Nation Education Authority
  • Attawapiskat School
