Training, Awareness & Facilitation

Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) - INAC Environmental Learning Regime Workshops (National)

MCA has been retained by INAC Environment Directorate in Ottawa, Alberta, Manitoba, BC, and the Atlantic region to deliver ongoing regional workshops focused on the environmental learning regime (ELR) for staff.  The ELR is an example of INAC`s commitment to continuous improvement as part of their sustainable development strategy.  MCA has facilitated the two day agenda and subsequent workshop sessions for staff starting in 2005 and ongoing to 2010 in various regions.  The sessions provide a forum to provide staff an overview of INAC environmental management history on reserve as well as an update on changes to legislation.  Staff are encouraged to provide feedback in the ELR sessions that is used to create changes to policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.

Environmental Management on Reserve Lands in the North

MCA was invited to provide an orientation to environmental management concepts and themes to two First Nation communities on reserve in the NWT.  The workshops focused on the use of the existing environmental learning regime (ELR) material initially developed for INAC staff.    Tours of the communities provided an opportunity to discuss site specific issues and learn about cultural initiatives in the communities.

Addition to Reserves (ATR) Orientation

MCA developed and delivered an orientation program for the Tribal Council on the ATR process.  The orientation was developed in consultation with INAC in Ontario and delivered with assistance from First Nation representatives from Ontario.
